He has worked for 34 years at the United States Foreign Service and has held several diplomatic positions, including that of ambassador, in several South American countries He has been the Director of the Office of Mexican Affairs at the Department of State during the negotiation and execution of the NAFTA.  

Following his career as a diplomat, he worked as a Consultant for Argentine, Spanish and US companies. He was the President of ChemSorce Corporación of Puerto Rico, actively taking part in the issues of the pharmaceutical industry.
In 2003, he founded the Inter American Links LLC, with offices in Boca Raton, Florida and Buenos Aires, where he works as a consultant and renders his services to Argentine companies in connection with the USA.
